Terms of use
Scope
These terms of use apply when you use rustfront.com. The provider is the operator named in the Impressum, Mattias Schmidt (“we”).
About RustFront
RustFront is a free, independent wiki about the game Rust. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Facepunch Studios or Valve.
- Game data on the wiki is read from the Rust game files.
- News posts and devblog digests are written by an AI model from public Facepunch sources and carry a visible “Written with AI” label.
- Skin pages link to skin marketplaces. Affiliate links among them are labelled: if you buy through one, we earn a commission.
Your account
You can read the wiki without an account. To comment, publish guides or become a Wiki Supporter, you sign in with Steam. Signing in is optional, and we never see your Steam password.
- Signing in needs a Steam account, so Steam’s own minimum age applies.
- If you are under 18, you may only use paid features with the consent of a parent or guardian.
- Keep your Steam account secure: anyone who can sign in to it can use your RustFront account.
- If you break these terms, we may suspend your account (see Moderation and reports).
- You can ask us to delete your account at any time at support@rustfront.com. We then delete it and anonymise your comments and guides, or delete them too if you ask.
Your contributions
Comments, guides and suggestions you send us are your contributions. You are responsible for them, and you may only post what you hold the rights to.
You keep your rights. You grant us a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence to store, display, reformat, translate and quote your contributions on rustfront.com, in our feeds, on the RustFront Discord and in our Reddit answers, and to use suggestions we accept in wiki articles.
The licence ends when you delete a contribution or we delete it at your request. It continues for suggestions already worked into wiki articles and for quotes of your contribution in other people’s replies.
A comment you delete is hidden at once. We keep its text for 90 days to handle complaints and legal claims, then erase it. Guides published from the base builder cannot be edited afterwards. We delete any guide on request.
Content rules
Do not post:
- illegal content;
- hate speech, threats or harassment;
- other people’s personal data;
- spam or advertising;
- offers to sell cheats, exploits or accounts;
- promotion of gambling or skin gambling sites;
- content that infringes copyright;
- content that impersonates someone else;
- off-topic flooding.
Moderation and reports
People moderate RustFront. A person reviews every report and makes every moderation decision; no automated system decides about content or accounts. Automatic limits on how often you can post, publish or report, and a hidden form field that catches bots, protect against spam; they do not judge what you write.
How to report
- Signed in, you can flag a comment with its Report button.
- Anyone can report illegal content at rustfront.com/report-content, without an account.
- Every notice reaches a person.
What we can do
We can remove or hide content, stop you from posting or suspend your account. We act with care, objectively and in proportion, and consider the rights and interests of everyone involved.
Before we stop you from posting or suspend your account, we tell you, give the reason and let you respond. A person then decides again.
Statement of reasons and how to contest it
If we remove or hide your content or restrict your account, we give you a statement of reasons. It states the facts, the ground (the law or the rule in these terms) and how you can contest the decision.
- For a comment, you see the statement of reasons in place of the removed comment when you are signed in.
- For a guide, we send it by email or as a Discord message if we know your email address or you linked your Discord account. If neither applies, we cannot reach you: write to support@rustfront.com and we send it to you.
To contest a decision, write to support@rustfront.com within six months. A person reviews your complaint and decides again. If your complaint is justified, we restore your content or lift the restriction. You can also go to court.
Threats
If content suggests a crime that threatens someone’s life or safety, we report it to the police, in Germany to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), as Art. 18 of the Digital Services Act (DSA) requires.
Contact point
Our single point of contact for authorities of the EU Member States, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services (Art. 11 DSA) and for users (Art. 12 DSA) is support@rustfront.com. We communicate in German and English. Messages are read and answered by a person.
Our postal address and phone number are in the Impressum.
Steam data
RustFront shows data from Steam, such as Steam display names and avatars, as Steam provides it (“as is”), to the extent the law allows; the liability rules below apply. Valve does not endorse RustFront, and RustFront is not affiliated with Valve or Steam.
Liability
We are liable for damages without limitation for intent and gross negligence, also on the part of our legal representatives and vicarious agents; for injury to life, body or health; under the German Product Liability Act; and to the extent we have given a guarantee.
In all other cases, we are liable for slight negligence only if we breach an essential contractual obligation: an obligation that makes proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely. In that case our liability is limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for this kind of contract.
The wiki is free. Its game data is read from the Rust game files and can be out of date, for example right after a Rust update.
Paid support
If you pay for one-time support or the monthly Wiki Supporter plan, the Supporter terms (contract terms and customer information) apply to that contract.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for the future, for example when the law or the site changes. We announce material changes on the site before they apply. A change applies to a paid contract that is already running only if you agree to it; your silence does not count as agreement.
Applicable law
German law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live (Art. 6(2) Rome I Regulation).
